Adding Content

Page history last edited by Kris Isaacson 7 years, 10 months ago

If you would like to contribute content, click on the "Request Access" link here or in the upper right hand portion of the screen. Alternatively, you may email Richard at rbeach@umn.edu. In your email indicate that you’re requesting access to the Understanding and Creating Digital Texts wiki. Also, be sure to identify your educational or organization affiliation so that access can be granted. Requests for the promotion of commercial products will not be approved. Once approved, follow the instructions below to add material:

Basic Editing:

  1. Navigate to the page where you would like to add or edit the content. Click on the Edit tab at the top of the page.
  2. Begin typing your changes or additions within the page. You will note that the editing tools are similar to those found in Microsoft Word or other word processing software.
  3. Click Save at the bottom of the page when you are finished.

Uploading documents:

  1. Navigate to the page where you would like to add or edit the content. Click on the Edit tab at the top of the page.
  2. On the right side of your screen, you’ll see an area labeled Page Tools. Within that there are two tabs, Pages and Images and Files.
  3. Click on the Images and Files tab.
  4. Click on the "Upload files" link.
  5. Navigate to where the file is located on your computer, click on it, and click "Open." The file will upload to the wiki and appear at the top of the Images and Files list.
  6. Once your file is uploaded, place your cursor on the page where you want to insert the file within the text. Then click on the file you want to include on the page.
  7. A link to the file will appear on the page using the title of the document.
  8. Click Save at the bottom of the page when you are finished.
