Use of DVD Clips in Video Compilations
From the December issue of eSchoolNews :
" Film studies educators will be allowed to copy snippets from DVDs to make educational compilations, under new copyright rules announced recently."
"The new rules took effect November 27 and expire in three years."
"The exemption granted to film professors authorizes the breaking of the CSS copy protection technology found in most DVDs. ...the professors says they need the ability to create compilations of DVD snippets to teach their classes.....Such compilations are generally permitted under 'fair-use' provisions of copyright law."
